Life Before Colonisation
Conquering The Aztecs
In 1521, Hernán Cortés arrived in South America in search of land. He arrived on the border of Tenochtitlan and started the fight by capturing the Aztec’s king (some sources say the Aztec emperor was killed in the conflict, whereas others say he was executed by the Spanish upon arrival). The fight that then continued went on for 3-9 months (different resources state different time lengths) but sadly the overall winner was the Spanish, who conquered the land. Though some of the events do not have clear records we all still know about the illness of the aztecs, and the overall death of their society.
A Comparison to the Aboriginals
People like to compare the colonization of the Aztecs to the the situation with Aboriginals in Australia, but unlike the aztecs, Australians are still making an effort to keep the Aboriginal race alive.
When England realised they had overstocked their prisons, they sent their prisoners down to Australia to take over the land. Unfortunately, when they got here there were already people, and though they made their greatest attempts to sort out the issue, the result was the death of many Aboriginals that were native to Australia. Fortunately they didn't succeed, and this is where our story splits apart from the Aztecs. We are still making an effort to save the lasting native people of this land, and because we stopped killing them just in time, we managed to save our story from the disaster that was the Aztec's story.
